SAT 10/1: LAKE MARTIN MARCHING INVITATIONAL  
11:00AM – Full Ensemble Report Time / Stretch & Warm Up
11:30AM – “Pre-Game” Ceremony
12:15PM – Load Buses/Depart
2:30PM – Lunch at Wendy’s or Arby’s of Alexander City
4:30PM – Arrive/Unload
5:30PM – Go to warm up area
6:15PM – WARM UP
6:50PM – “The PRIDE” takes the field in competition!!!!!  GO PRIDE GO!!!!!
 
*Immediately after our performance, we will load up all equipment.  Students will keep their uniforms for a group picture on the 50-yard line following the awards ceremony. 
 
9:00PM – Awards Ceremony
10:00PM – Load Buses and return to Southside HS
 
 
More Information:

  1. Security – All Southside students are to travel in groups of three or more at all times. 

  1. Money – Students should bring cash to eat lunch and visit the concession stands.  It is important that students keep track of their belongings and remember, that our bus doors do not lock.
 

  1. Address – Please note that the LMI Contest is held at the Charles E. Bailey Sports Complex and not at Benjamin Russell High School.  1842 Sportsplex Blvd, Alexander City, AL 35010

  1. Checkouts – Students may check out following the award ceremony at 9pm.  Check outs will occur at the Southside seating area in the stadium. (Not Bus 1)

We want to invite any and all parents to attend this rehearsal and help give our students an audience to perform for.

Report Time: 5:15pm seated and dressed (halves) in band room

Pregame Show: 6:45pm
Kick Off: 7:00pm GO PANTHERS!
Departure: 10:00ish
Dismissal: Students will be dismissed as a group once we have returned to the band room

  1. Band Calendar: There are printable versions of each months calendar available online at: http://www.shs-band.com/calendar.html

  1. Practice Records:  Practice records are due Monday each week for all Symphonic Band & Wind Ensemble members.  Symphonic Band records should be turned into Mrs. Palmer; Wind Ensemble records should be turned into Mr. Weaver. 

  1. Student Committees: Every student has been added to a special committee with an important assignment.  There are three teams or shifts for each committee. http://www.shs-band.com/blog/2016-marching-band-student-committees

  1. Parent Check Out Notes:  Parents who wish to take their children home after Lake Martin may do so by signing out their child with Mrs. Hamilton at Bus 1.  Students must turn in a signed note to the band office by Friday morning stating that their parents will check them out.  Parents may also send the directors an email stating that they will check out their child.  Students will only be allowed to leave with a parent or legal guardian.

  1. Fall Concert Coming Soon:  Our 1st ever Fall Concert is coming up fast!  Mark your calendars for November 1st at 6pm and start practicing now!  Students will need their concert instruments in class every day beginning this week in preparation.

More Information:
  1. Security – Uniformed officers will be present to patrol Titan Stadium and the campus of GCHS.  First Aid will be provided by the Etowah County Rescue Squad and will be located inside the field house.
  2. Video Recordings – ProCat Audio/Video will be on site to professionally record performances.  DVD’s will be available the day of. 
  3. Band Seating – A seating chart will be included in each Director’s information packet upon arrival.  Due to the large number of bands participating, please adhere to this strictly and pack them in a close together as possible.
  4. Equipment Loading – GCHS Band does offer help transporting your larger pieces of equipment from the warm-up area to the performance area.  Mid-South will not be held responsible for any damage to the contents of the equipment trailer.  Please have a parent available to supervise the loading/unloading and transport of your equipment.  The loading area is adjacent to the warm-up area.  ***We welcome any band to bring their own transportation system for their equipment.  This will eliminate wait times and expedite the loading and unloading process.***
  5. Concessions – A full line of concessions will be available for the duration of the festival and will include hamburgers, hot dogs, pizza, pretzels, and Chick-Fil-A, along with an assortment of snacks, candies and drinks.
  6. Emergency Repairs – A representative from Gadsden Music Co. will be on site to assist with emergency repairs.

The annual Etowah County Band & Cheer EXPO will be held Tuesday, September 13th at Gadsden City High School.  The EXPO will open with the combined bands of Etowah County at 6:30 and "The PRIDE" will perform at 8:15pm.

Admission is $5.  Come and support The PRIDE!

Minister of Music & SHS Band Dad Mr. Jay Hodges would like to invite all members of The PRIDE to attend White Springs Baptist Church's "5th Quarter" student rally tonight after the game.  Students can enjoy free food, music & games tonight in the WSBC gym from 10pm -12am.
