IMPORTANT INFORMATION

3rdANNUAL AUX. SHOWCASE: Join us Monday, April 30thin the Biddle Auditorium at 6pm for the 3rdannual Auxiliary Showcase! This event features both group and individual performances by the talented young ladies of The PRIDE’s auxiliary units. (Colorguard, Crimsonettes, & Majorettes) Admission is $5 and all proceeds go towards preparing our auxiliaries for their upcoming marching band production.
ROADBLOCK FUNDRAISER: We want to say a huge thank you to all of our parent volunteers who came out this weekend to help with the PMA’s roadblock in Rainbow City. We have one more scheduled for Sat. May 19thin Southside. If you can help, please call Morgan Smith.
MAY PMA BOOSTER MEETING: The PMA will elect it’s new Executive Board on Mon. May 14that 7:00 pm. We hope to see you there!
SPRING CONCERT / SHOW ANNOUNCEMENT: Join us Monday May 7thin the Biddle Auditorium at 6pm for our annual Spring Concert featuring the Symphonic Band & Wind Ensemble’s wrap up of the 2017-18 school year. Admission is $5 and will go towards helping The PRIDE begin our 2018-halftime production. At the end of the concert, we will announce our very special, & very exciting show theme for next year. You don’t want to miss this!
BAND AWARDS BANQUET: The annual Band Banquet is Tuesday, May 8thin the Biddle Auditorium at 6pm. After the awards ceremony, we’ll have a catered meal provided by Tre Raggzi’s of Gadsden while the seniors give us their last will & testaments. Tickets for the dinner are now on sale for $12.50 & includes pasta, salad, bread, tea & a dessert. Please turn in all orders by May 3rd. SPRING SCRIMAGE GAME: The varsity football team’s spring scrimmage game will be Friday, May 18that Barney Hood Stadium. The PRIDE (current 8-11thgrade) will perform in the stands and use this as an opportunity for members of the band to meet our new incoming members and have fun. More information to follow.
READING BAND / ORIENTATION: Our annual reading band is for all members of next year’s band and will be held Monday, May 21stfrom 3:15 to 4:30 pm. This event is required for all members of next year’s band. This event is where we meet all of our new members & read through next year’s halftime show. Also on the 21stat 6 pm we will have our mandatory student/parent orientation meeting for the 2018 – 2019 band. Please bring a pen to fill out registration forms & money for tee shirts. ROOKIE CAMP: Rookie Camp will be Tuesday May 22 – Thursday May 24 from 3:15 to 4:30 pm at the high school band room. Rookie Camp is for all 1stor 2ndyear marchers & our student leadership team. This camp is where we will teach all of our new members how to march. Please bring water jugs, sunscreen, shorts and athletic shoes as we will be outside for most of this time.

Congratulations to all of our students in 8-11thgrades on some truly remarkable and impressive auditions! Even if you did not get the placement you wanted, we appreciate your gracious attitudes. 2018 Shirt Order Forms

Please download and return the 2018 Shirt Order Form and money by May 21st at our orientation meeting. Shirts will be available for pick up at our July PMA meeting before band camp.

All members must purchase at least 1 show shirt & have 1 red shirt (veteran members do not have to purchase new red shirts). Polos are optional for all students & parents. If you are planning on serving as a prop & equipment volunteer please purchase a black polo to wear at our performances.

4.   MARTIN’S FUNDRAISING: Students have been given five Martin’s Benefit Sale cards to sell for                   $5 each. The deadline to turn in the money is April 17th.

5.    Roadblocks: The Pride Music Association has set up two roadblocks: April 28th in Rainbow City and May 19 in Southside. Please contact Morgan Smith for more information.

6.    Band Booster Meeting: May 14th at 7:00 pm. We hope to see you there!

DRUM MAJOR / STUDENT LEADERSHIP INFO: Information regarding Drum Major auditions has been published online athttp://www.shs-band.com/blog/drum-major-auditions-2018. All students are asked to attend Drum Major Finals on Wednesday, April 11th3-4:30 pm. The band will play for our finalists to conduct and get a chance to vote.
PMA MARTIN’S CARDS: The PMA is selling benefit discount cards to Martin’s Family Clothing. Each card we sell will help the boosters to pay our annual instrument lease. Every student is asked to sell at least 5 cards by April 17th. Cards are available in the band room. Please help support the PMA & The PRIDE!
PMA ROADBLOCKS: The PMA is hosting 2 roadblocks this spring to help raise money for our instrument lease. Saturday, April 28thin Rainbow City & May 19thin Southside. We are in need of adult volunteers for both events. (No children are allowed to participate in these events per city law) If you can help, please contact Morgan Smith to sign up at (205) 567-3161.
SOLO & ENSEMBLE: Southside High School will host the District II Solo & Ensemble event on Monday, April 16thfrom 4 to 7:00 pm. We will be in need of student and parents volunteers. If you can help, please contact Mrs. Hammock or Mr. Weaver to sign up.
