Performance Times RMS Advanced Band: Thursday, February 28, 2019 – 10:30 am Southside HS Symphonic Band: Friday, March 1, 2019 – 2:00 pm Southside HS Wind Ensemble: Friday, March 1, 2019 – 6:30 pm TRAVEL ITINERARIES SOUTHSIDE HS SYMPHONIC BAND (6th Period) 2019 Music Performance Assessment TRAVEL INFORMATION When: Friday, March 1, 2019 – 2:00 pm Where: Gadsden City High School Auditorium Report Time: (Students will need to bring their concert attire to school Friday 3-1-19) Students will be called out of their 5th period classes early to eat lunch and then come band room and change and load equipment. Departure: Students will depart via bus at 1:00 pm Travel: ALL STUDENTS will be bused to GCHS. Parents wishing to check out their child after the concert must submit a written note to the band office prior to Thursday (2-28-19). Items to Bring: Formal attire, instrument, music & folder with pencil. Performance: The Symphonic Band will perform at 2:00 pm in the GCHS Auditorium. There is no admission and we highly encourage all of our parents and families to attend! Procedures: 1. 1:00 pm Depart SHS. 2. 1:15 pm Arrive at GCHS / unload / line up. 3. 1:30 pm WARM UP in GCHS Band Room. 4. 2:00 pm Performance on stage. 5. 2:30 pm Sight Reading. 6. 3:00 pm Load equipment and depart for SHS when buses arrive from their routes. ***Wind Ensemble Itinerary is located on page 2*** SOUTHSIDE HS WIND ENSEMBLE (7th Period) 2019 Music Performance Assessment TRAVEL INFORMATION When: Friday, March 1, 2019 – 6:30 pm Where: Gadsden City High School Auditorium Report Time: 5:00 pm dressed and seated - Southside Band Room Departure: Students will depart via bus at 5:20 pm Travel: ALL STUDENTS will be bused to GCHS. The Southside auxiliaries are consistently rated as one of the top visual ensembles in the Southeast. This upcoming season promises to be full of excitement, energy and fun, and our Auxiliary members will be a vital part of “The PRIDE’s” success. The auxiliaries portray beauty, class, elegance and most importantly excellence in everything they do! NO BAD ATTITUDES ALLOWED. Only positive, hard-working and dedicated young women should consider auditioning. Who is Eligible to Audition? Any female, grade 9-12 (upcoming school year) who is registered as a year-round instrumental member of the Southside Band, and who has taken at least two years of band at RMS is eligible for auxiliary auditions. Students without two years of middle school band may join the high school band and be considered eligible after participating for one year. We wish you the best of luck as you prepare to audition for this prestigious & awarding-winning group. “The PRIDE” of Southside is consistently rated as one of the top band programs in the Southeast. This upcoming season promises to be full of excitement, energy and fun, and our Drum Major will be a vital part of “The PRIDE’s” success. NO BAD ATTITUDES ALLOWED. Only positive, hard-working and dedicated students should consider auditioning. Who is Eligible to Audition? Any band member, grade 10-12 (upcoming school year) who is registered as a year-round instrumental member of the Southside Band, and who has taken at least one year of marching band experience. Audition Date – Closed to Public
Dress: PROFESSIONAL! No denim, ill-fitting or sloppy clothing, appropriate grooming and personal presentation. *Applicants must be in good standing with the Southside HS faculty, (this will be determined by teacher evaluations turned into the band office) and be up to date on all band fees from the 2018-2019 season. $30 Audition Fee (non-refundable) Payable to: SOUTHSIDE HIGH SCHOOL BAND Costs $300 Band Membership Fee (ALL STUDENTS - broken into payments and fundraisers are available) ** Drum Major will have a reduced membership fee of $150 to aide with the burden of purchasing his or her own uniform. $412 Uniform Fee (based on last year’s uniform cost) The Drum Major is responsible for purchasing their own uniform, the design of which is chosen by the director to compliment the entire band.
