END OF THE SEMESTER INFO & REMINDERS

Hello PRIDE! 
 
Can you believe the semester is already coming to a close?  We wish everyone the happiest of holidays, safe travels & a very Merry Christmas! 
 
Please review the information below for the end of the semester.
 
 

1. MIDTERMS: All SHS classes must give a Midterm and all 4-band classes will have a Midterm grade.  Students must be present on the day of their scheduled Midterm to receive a grade.  If for any reason a student misses class on the midterm day the only make up day is Friday, December 16th.    

 

1. CUBBIES: ALL cubbies should be completely cleared out before the end of the week.  Instruments, books, clothes, everything.  Items left in the band room over the break will be donated to Goodwill. 

 

1. INSTRUEMTS:  Every student should take their instrument home over the break.  Both ensembles have been issued music for Alabama State Music Performance Assessment in February.  Please start practicing now J

 

1. MPA SCHEDULE:  Please keep an eye on our online calendar.   Be sure to work around our MPA rehearsal schedule. 

 

1. SANP DONATION DRIVE: PLEASE continue to spread the word about our donation drive for new uniforms!  Let’s see what we can get done in a month!  Our kids deserve new uniforms!!!  Click online here: https://app.snap-raise.com/fundraisers/21259

NEW UNIFORM DONATION CAMPAIGN
SNAP Update – GREAT NEWS!
 
Hello PRIDE!
 
Great News!  Since we launched our SNAP Uniform Drive yesterday at 3pm we have already received $800 in donations!!  Thank you to all over our students and parents who have put in their 20 email addresses and secured donations! 
 
Currently, we have 6.3% participation.  This means that of the students who have entered in addresses 6.3% of those contacted have donated.  Imagine then what we could accomplish with 80% participation!
 
Parents, please encourage your child to participate in this campaign.  Our kids deserve new uniforms and much more.  Please help us to secure these needed donations!

A final decision regarding the parade will be made today after noon.

Jazz Band Dress Rehearsal

RMS Christmas Brass Rehearsal (all SHS brass students are invited)

Symphonic Band & Percussion Dress Rehearsal
3:15-5:00pm
 
*Meadow Brook Baptist Rehearsal (Percussionist who are attending)

Wind Ensemble & Percussion Dress Rehearsal
3:15-5:00pm
 
FRI 12/9
“Southside Christmas Spectacular” – 6pm
Admission is a new, unwrapped toy to be donated to Toys for Tots
(Student report time is 5:15pm)
 
IMPORTANT REMINDERS

1. Band Calendar: There are printable versions of each month’s calendar available online at: http://www.shs-band.com/calendar.html
   
   
2. Practice Records:  Practice records are due Monday each week for all Symphonic Band & Wind Ensemble members.  Symphonic Band records should be turned into Mrs. Palmer; Wind Ensemble records should be turned into Mr. Weaver. 

 

1. Fees & Payments:  Parents, please note that all membership fees and other payments are now past due.  Please help us to prepare financially for the new-year by paying all remaining fees.
