Hello PRIDE! It's that time of year again. We want highly encourage every student to audition for the District Honor Band & the Alabama All-State Band! Preparing for this audition is a challenging yet very rewarding process and is one that will only make our band program here at home stronger. What Is District & All-State? The Alabama Bandmasters Association hosts 2 "honor band" events throughout the school year. Participates are selected based on a standardized audition at both the local and state level. The top scores from every local district make up the various District Honor Bands and the top scores from across the state make up the All-State Bands. Ok, Why Should My Child Participate? Making the all-state or district band is something that all of our students are capable of; however, it takes a lot of hard work and individual discipline to adequately prepare for the audition. The requirements are all elements that our students work on at school anyway throughout the year, but preparing for this audition only makes individuals better musicians, which in turn makes our program better. Students who are selected have the opportunity to work with world-renowned conductors and other dedicated student musicians. It's an amazing atmosphere and a lot of fun! Not to mention that you get to travel to fun locations and get to eat some really awesome food while we're there! And all the while, you make friendships, connections, and memories that will enrich the rest of your life. It might also be worth mentioning that it looks REALLY good on a resume. How Do I Sign Up & What Do I Do? Interested students should sign up with Mr. Weaver & Mrs. Hammock. The registration fee is $10. The deadline to register is December 1st; however, students need to begin preparing NOW if they’re going to be able to truly audition. The audition date is Saturday, January 13th, 2018 at Albertville High School. The audition requirements and materials can be found below or on our website. Tips For Preparing To Audition
