Hello, Parents & Students! This is just a friendly reminder that we start our 8th Grade Band "Move Up" activities next week! We are SUPER excited to see everyone! Specifically, we wanted to remind everyone that Monday night at 6 pm, we will hold our mandatory orientation meeting in the high school auditorium. We will also be collecting t-shirt orders and money for next year's band. This should allow everyone to get their shirts a bit quicker this year. ALSO, we are excited to offer a nicer band polo shirt option this year for students & parents. Order forms for these shirts are attached to this email. If you would like to order, please print this form & bring it with money to the orientation meeting. Extra forms will also be available at the meeting. See everyone Monday! Go PRIDE GO! UPCOMING EVENTS "Reading Band" - Mon. May 22nd 3-5 pm Read through the music for The PRIDE's 2017 halftime & pregame shows. Orientation Meeting - Mon. The end of the year is approaching fast! Please take a minute to review the information below.
7. Afterschool Rehearsals 2017: This year, our afterschool rehearsal schedule has a slight change. Our Thursday rehearsal will now be a night rehearsal from 6-8 at the Southside High School stadium! This is such exciting news for “The PRIDE”! At these rehearsals, we will be able to practice on a field that we will perform on under the lights. We want to invite parents to attend rehearsals in the stadium, especially for the final Thursday night full run through of the show, which will happen around 7:40 each Thursday night. Giving the students a crowd will help reward them for all the hard work they are doing! Monday and Tuesday rehearsals will remain the same at our practice field from 3:15-5:30.

MINI & BAND CAMP: July 17-28 – Southside High School Our summer camps are where we put all of our halftime and pregame productions together. Music and drill will be put together with our auxiliary members to create a fun, energetic and entertaining performance for all of our Southside fans. Who Should Attend?
What Should You Bring?
“The PRIDE” of Southside Attendance Policy Because of the nature of our activity, and the number of members that we have to coordinate “The PRIDE” has a very strict attendance policy. All members must be at all rehearsals and performances. Members and potential members are expected and required to work their schedules accordingly. If any conflict arises, please let us know as soon as possible. Tip for Enjoying Marching Band Marching Band operates outside. We live in Alabama. Alabama is hot outside. These are facts. We cannot change them.
The PRIDE is an amazing group to be a part of and we guarantee that students will make memories here that will last them a lifetime. However, if students are not prepared for the heat and other realities of being outside during the summer months they will not enjoy band. We strongly urge everyone to spend some time outdoors before Rookie Camp to acclimate his or her body to the weather. We want everyone to enjoy band and all of the opportunities that it brings. |
