Game Day Schedule & General Info 8/30/18 - Southside vs. Hokes Bluff

8/29/2018

Game Day Schedule & General Information
August 30th, 2018 - Southside vs. Hokes Bluff
  1. REPORT TIME: Each game day, students are given a “Report Time”.  This is the call for all members to be seated in the band room with all of their equipment ready to go.  This is not the time to first arrive at the band room.  All members are expected to be seated and ready to participate in our student-led “pregame” activity.  After report time, we will inspect uniforms and load the bus to depart for the game.
  2. UNIFORM CODE / INSPECTIONS: All students are required to be in “uniform” throughout the entire game day.  *This simply means that we all do the same thing, the same way at the same time.  (Ex. We all either have the jackets on, or we all have them off.  If they’re off, they’re all folded the same way.  All auxiliaries will match and follow the guidelines set by their instructors)  All members will be inspected before we leave the band room to make sure they are in compliance with our Uniform Code.  This code can be found online in the Membership Info & Forms packet under the “Members” tab.  Students not in uniform will not be allowed to perform.
  3. STADIUM PROCEDURES: All members are required to sit together in the band section throughout the entire game.  Non-band members (including parents/boyfriends/girlfriends) are not allowed in the band section.  This includes during the 3rd quarter.  Members do receive a break during the 3rd quarter where we do not play except in the event of a Panther touchdown.  During this break, members will stay in the band section in their assigned seats so that we are ready to play in the event of a touchdown.  Members are not allowed to go to the bathroom until the 3rd quarter outside of an emergency basis.  Students going to the bathroom must be accompanied by a chaperone.
  4. 3rd QUARTER MEALS / PARENTS: Students who purchase a 3rd quarter meal will be called down by section to get their meals once the entire band is back in the stadium.  If parents want to bring their child food from the concession stand, that is fine; but students are not allowed to leave the band section.  This should be done when that child’s section is called down to receive food.  If you try to hand out food as we’re coming back from halftime; this slows down getting everyone into the stands and fed.
  5. CHECKOUTS (Away Games Only): Once the game is over, students will load equipment and the bus to come home.  Parents wishing to checkout their child after the game (away games only) must turn in a signed permission note to the band office no later than Thursday of that week.  Students must load their equipment and make arrangements for their uniform with their section leader.   Parents must sign-out their child in the stadium with Mrs. Payne.  Students are only allowed to checkout with a parent or legal guardian.
  6. DISMISSAL: Students are dismissed as a group from the Bandroom on Friday nights.  Once all of our equipment is stored and checked, and uniforms are hung properly then students will be dismissed.  Students are not allowed to leave as soon as we get back to the high school.  The faster we get everything put away, the faster we all go home.

RESALE / FEE REMINDER: Although band fees are due during the fall, we ask that families take care of any resale items (items purchased from the band that students keep) first.  The band will host four fundraisers throughout the school year to allow students an opportunity to pay off membership fees.  The first is our annual Coke Sale, which begins August 13th.
  4. Coca-Cola Sale:The PRIDE (RMS & SHS Bands) will hold their annual Coke Sale August 13th– 27th. Profits earned will go towards helping students pay for their band fees.  Prices and more info to come soon!
  5. REGULAR REHEARSAL SCHEDULE:A reminder that we will begin our normal afterschool rehearsal schedule of Monday, Tuesday, Thursday from 3:15 to 5:30 pm on the first full week of school.  Students will need to bring their water jugs (already filled) to school in the mornings on those days and take them home each evening. Water jugs or dirty clothes should not be left out in the band room overnight.
  6. WEEKLY SCHEDULE EMAILS:In addition to our calendar updates and other news updates, the band offices posts a weekly schedule for the upcoming week with a list of important information and reminders. This schedule is VERY important, and all students & parents should read it thoroughly.
  7. NEXT MARCHING BAND REHEARSAL:Our next full marching band rehearsal will be Thursday, August 9thfrom 3:15 to 5:30 pm.
