Why Do We Pay Fees?
Fees are an unfortunate necessity as the Southside Band is a completely self-sustaining program. It takes approximately $60,000 per year to run the Southside band program. The school district does not fund any of this expense. Membership fees bring in roughly $30k, which means each year, we need to raise approximately $30,000 to $35,000! As an organization, we cannot operate and provide any level of experience/education for our students without a solid financial foundation. Every effort has been made to keep fees as low as possible while still providing the best year-round experience possible. |

Additional Costs
Resale items are any materials that students need to purchase in order to participate with the band (shoes, concert attire, auxiliary uniforms etc.) Per Alabama State law, no funds raised in the name of a public institution may be used to purchase items for private use. This means that students may not use fundraisers or credit to purchase items that they keep.
