Please read the following information and reminders. Also, don’t forget that we have a student/parent PMA meeting on Monday, July 10th at 7pm to help answer any questions you might have before camp starts on the 17th. We will collect water & Gatorade cases (make sure your name is on them) and pass out shirt orders.

Important Info

NEWSLETTER: Our summer camp newsletter “From The Podium” has been published on our blog. It contains important information for both members and parents. Read it online at: http://www.shs-band.com/blog/band-camp-newsletter-from-the-podium-july-2017
PAYMENTS: July band fees are due Friday, July 7th. Please work to meet our financial obligations. Membership fees make up the operational budget for our band program. We count on YOUR support to make it through our summer camps.
WATER & GATORADE: Every member is asked to supply 1 case of bottled water & 1 large can of powdered Gatorade mix. The water is used during football games and other performances while the Gatorade provides refreshment for camp and fall marching rehearsals. We count on every member’s support! Be sure to mark your child’s name on the outside of each case in order to receive credit.
FLUTE INSTRUCTOR NEEDS HOUSING: Our band camp flute instructor Ms. Katie Terry of JSU is in need of housing during the week of band camp. Katie is allergic to pet dander so we are in need of a hypoallergenic home. Katie is a wonderful young lady. If you and your family would be willing to house her for band camp, please email Mr. Weaver ASAP!
CHRISTIAN RICE EAGLE SCOUT PROJECT: Senior band member Christian Rice and his family are currently working on his Eagle Scout Project by helping The PRIDE. Christian will be making some desperately needed repairs and improvements to our outdoor rehearsal tower including adding support reinforcements and adding additional shading for our members. The Rice’s need your help though! If you’re a dad, or a strong back with a willingness to work, please help the Rice family Saturday, July 8th.
NEW UNIFORMS: Our new uniforms are in! Thank you to all of our students, parents, boosters, school officials and sponsors for all your hard work in raising the funds for our new uniforms! They look amazing!!!
BAND CAMP WEBSITE: Our band camp website is now online! Please visit the site to read up on all the information you need as members and parents before camp starts on July 17th. http://www.southsidebandcamp.com
TEXT MESSAGES THROUGH REMIND: Please note that the 2016 marching band text group will be closed permanently on Friday, May 26th. If you have not already done so, please text the message “@thepride17” to 81010 to sign up for the 2017 text group.
FORMS: ALL registration forms are now due! These forms were in your membership packet at orientation and include the registration, medical release, uniform code & handbook acknowledgement forms. If you did not receive a packet, it is available online at: http://www.shs-band.com/forms--handbook.html
PREPARE FOR THE HEAT: Welcome to Alabama in the summer. It. Is. HOT! Band Camp is a LOT of fun, but you can’t enjoy yourself if all you’re use to is the nice cool air-conditioned living room.

Hello PRIDE,

Please read our summer newsletter "From The Podium" for important information about our summer band camps. This newsletter is a great resource for both parents and members.

Also, don't forget; there is a PRIDE Music Association Booster meeting Monday, July 10th at 7pm at SHS. This meeting is for both parents and members and will help answer any questions you may have before we begin camp on the 17th. This is also the time when families will turn in their water & Gatorade cases. (Be sure to write your child's name on the case so that they receive credit) Shirt orders are in too and will be distributed at the meeting.
