Hello, & greetings to all!  
 
It’s such a pleasure to write to you all again. I hope that everyone has enjoyed the summer break.  If you’ve had half as much fun as my family has, then you’ve had a wonderful time indeed! 
 
So many people have worked incredibly hard this summer to get our camp ready.  Thank you to Mrs. Hammock, our design team, and the executive board of the PMA for all of their efforts in putting together the best possible camp experience for our students.  I cannot tell you just how excited we all are about this upcoming year and halftime show. It’s going to be a very fun year!
 
Our annual camp newsletter “From the Podium” has been sent out and is full of useful info for both students and parents. A more detailed description of this info can be found below.  Don’t forget that we have a mandatory student/parent meeting next Monday, July 16th at 7 pm.  This is the best time to drop off your cases of bottled water and Gatorade.  
 
I can’t wait to see everyone again and hear all about your summer adventures.

  1. From the Podium NEWSLETTER: Our annual camp newsletter has been published online at http://www.shs-band.com/blog/july-2018-band-camp-newsletter-from-the-podium   
  2. CAMP DATES:  Mini Camp begins July 23 & Band Camp July 30. Please check the newsletter for more details.   ​
  3. WATER DONATIONS: We ask that every student donate 2 cases of bottled water and 1 can of canned Gatorade mix.  These donations are what keep the students hydrated during football games and at outdoor rehearsals.  Please make sure that each donation is labeled clearly with the student’s name so that they can receive credit.  We’re asking for all donations to be delivered at the July 16thPMA Booster meeting.      
  4. PERSONAL WATER JUGS: ALL members are required to have a large, wide-mouthed water jug for all outdoor rehearsals.  They need to be clearly labeled with the student’s name and should go home after every rehearsal so that they can be WASHED OUT.  Jugs do not need to spend the night at the band room. Mrs. Payne also requests that students arrive with their jugs already filled up before rehearsal.  This really helps our parent volunteers keep all of our students hydrated faster.  If everyone has to fill up at the same time, it really slows everyone down. ​
  5. PICTURE DAY: The group picture for the fall media guide will be Wed. July 25 at 10 am at Barney Hood Stadium.  More info to come.  
  6. MEDIA GUIDE Ads & SENIOR POSTERS:Ads for Fall Media Guide (football program) may be purchased at picture day from the Southside Athletic Foundation.  Ads are $100 for seniors, $300 for everyone else. Amanda Morgan from the foundation will be there at the stadium to collect money and answer questions. Please DO NOT send media guide money to the band office.  Seniors who wish to purchase a poster to be hung in the stadium may purchase them on the 25thas well.
